Coast to Coast - About - Our Team

Our Team

Mike Lapcevic is at the helm of the Coast to Coast Adventures team. Designing all our challenging routes gives him the unique ability to quickly calculate logistics and timings, assess difficulty levels and ensures our Guides are fully trained. He can often be found in the field as he joins a number of trips in-between his frequent explorations for new routes.

With over a decade’s experience working for Coast to Coast, Cristina Ulate is our very able General Manager. She controls a team of Sales, Operations, Accounting, Warehouses and Camp staff. We get her out into the field from time to time as she liaises with local communities for our student projects. The nature of our business is extremely diverse and needs many different skills which she employs with great diplomacy.

We are extremely proud to have employed Randall Jimenez as an integral part of our sales team for the last 12 years. He joined us having had experience working in tourism and wanted to learn the art of internet sales. His knowledge of the country has assisted many clients and he has quite a following of clients who return again and again as well as many who refer their friends and family.

Our two camps are lovingly tended by one of the gentlest human beings, Martin Contreras. From the moment he hiked from his home in the rainforest to ask for work when we were clearing El Nido del Tigre from its overgrown state, Martin entered our hearts and in a little over 12 years he has contributed immensely to the success of our camps. Martin’s son is following in his father’s footsteps and works at El Nido del Tigre, which is essential as Martin sometimes shows his trekking prowess by joining groups on some of our more extreme trekking sections. He also has overall management responsibility for Finca Pacuarito, overseeing our resident site manager, Francisco (and his family as they all get involved).

We believe in developing staff to reach and exceed their potential. Guides are trained in the warehouse to fully understand the behind the scenes logistics of trip and equipment preparation and repair. Bike maintenance skills for example are essential on biking trips. Guides receive training in First Aid and CPR and for Head Guides we ensure they are qualified in Wilderness First Responder.

Office staff are encouraged to learn about the different areas of the company and we are pleased that junior staff have grown with us and assumed greater responsibility over time. Long service is not common in Costa Rica but we are very proud to say that almost all our employees have been working for us for over 5 years and many over 10. This level of experience is priceless in our business.
